“Agriculture is the backbone of the economic system of a given country. Young people should embrace farming as a business. Be reminded cellphone farming does not work, you need to be on the ground.”
Starting off the week with Ayanda Moyo. A 22 year old Farmer located in Mguza under matebeleland North. He started farming soon after high school with just half a hectare and today proudly farms on 4 hectares of land producing more than 20000heads of cabbages a month supplying TM Pick n pay,Choppies and other supermarkets.
“As a young boy being a farmer is all I envisioned for myself. Both of my parent’s were involved in farming specifically cattle ranching and horticulture. Soon after highschool I began to take farming seriously and I fell in love with farming and the fruits of my hard work.
I remember when I was growing up used to visit the farm a lot on school holidays and I got obsessed with production. This obsession and interest made me attend field days from a very young age and research a lot about agriculture. I even went onto do a online course.
I started with only 5000 plants about an acre with the help of my mother. So far I have managed to buy irrigation equipment worth over 30000usd which  can irrigate 10 hectares plus but currently utilizing 4 hectares and managed obtain a truck to carry my produce in a period of 1year 6months .Now I have the funds and capacity  to produce 10000-20000heads of cabbage a month .It has been my major crop.Farming is a very stable field and its should be taken as a business and its one of the ways youths can make money without being employed.
