Chido by @munashechirisa@johnfalsetto @madeinzwe is out February 14 and IZ presents the cast
——————-
Playing a slightly younger version of ‘Munashe’ in the CHIDO music video is none other than Tinaye Wayne Chiketa @tinayewayne. After only stepping out onto the scene as recently as 2016, you would think Tinaye has been a veteran on the comedy circuit for decades. The Zimbabwean actor, comedian and writer, has proven himself to be a natural performer over a short space of time and has been on a rise that can only be described as meteoric. Although he had already started making noise in the circuits, his break-through performance was when the African queen of comedy, Kansiime Anne, staged a show at the Harare International Conference Centre, where he stole the show and wowed the audience resulting in a full-house standing ovation. Just two years after, he was nominated for the National Arts Merit Award (NAMA), which is the most esteemed arts award in Zimbabwe, for his works in stand-up comedy. Tinaye is now one of the most prominent faces on the comedy scene, performing regularly at comedy shows such as Simuka Comedy Club, and also runs Chaseka Comedy, a monthly comedy show across the country at universities. His tenacity and resilience has seen him dubbed as ‘the next great force’ in Zimbabwe.

Whilst Tinaye is sharp and witty with the mic in his hand, he is also a gifted and effortless screen actor, with the mastery of subtle, and nuanced performance that one can’t teach. He plays a leading role on the Zimbabwean hit web-series ‘Special Class’, along with a star studded cast of some of the most gifted upcoming comedians. Tinaye also writes and performs under the MAGAMBA TV collective, and has written and performed in some of their most iconic sketches produced. His on-screen credits also include film work, most recent being ‘The Letter’ by veteran filmmakers Joe Njagu and Daves Guzha. With such a stellar resume in such a short space of time, this was a horse you’d want to bet on. – @madeinzwe
