Born Isheanesu Chigagura, Ishan is a singer-songwriter/producer born on the 5th of August 1997. Originally from Mvurwi but now based in Harare. He started singing back in primary school 5th grade when he joined the school choir and that’s how he discovered that he had something in him.
After finishing his primary education at Umvukwes Primary School and he went on to do his secondary education at Churchill Boys High in Harare and Holly Rosary Secondary School in Mvurwi. At Churchill that’s where his love for music grew and ended up being part of the band for some time before moving on to further his studies at Holly Rosery Secondary School.
With a rich musical background mostly he is inspired by history and old school sound but however one can include the modern-day life and mother nature had also played an important part in his inspiration as well. Over the past 2 years Ishan has a few songs that are out including features and collaborations. In 2016 Ishan recorded his first ever project which was a 5 song EP but however a very small reach was attained.
In 2018 Ishan went on to then release Dololo which managed to get some waves and developed the artistry in him. His biggest break came just 2 months into 2019 when he dropped Kure featuring Ti Gonzi, a song which quickly became a national anthem, peaking at number 6 on Apple Music, number 1 on StarFM for 6 weeks, number 1 on ZIFM 4 weeks and on PowerFM for 4 weeks. In just over 100 days Kure managed to clock 1 Million Views, making it one of the quickest songs to hit that mark for a new act.
In just 12 months Ishan managed to share the stage with Patoranking , bag a total of 12 Awards from a possible 16, with 10 of them being majors. This being a new record for a new artist. In the same way engaging Ishan will allow the conversation of the bank to go beyond just saving, but ENHANCING a career and inspiring the next crop !
Maaaaan. That sooong Kure, really helped me alot. Last year when I was doing my finals. I love it. But What I like most is that from what I just read though, is the fact that it took you literally atleast 7 years to become an overnight success. This is an important lesson for today’s youth to understand that you need to work to be successful. Keep shining ishan. Kepp. Inspiring l. Keep winning.
