Nyasha K Mutizwa

1 Mins read

An honour to present to you our Spotlight Nyasha K Mutizwa who is a multi-talented journalist, reporter and news anchor for Africanews TV which broadcasts in English and in French.
Before television, Nyasha, who is also trained in legal practice, was one of the pioneer presenters at Capitalk 100.4 FM radio station. Nyasha K is also a moderator, MC and an AFDIS Award winning theatre performer.
Based in Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo, the 27 year old is the only Southern African journalist at the international television station which represents more than 12 nationalities. In addition, the Dominican Convent alumnus is one of the 4 news anchors on The Morning Call, a daily flagship programme of news and live interviews in English and French. Furthermore, Nyasha is a travel reporter and acts as a Zimbabwean correspondent for Africanews sister station, Euronews.
“Living in Francophone Africa has been a real culture shock. Firstly, language. Even though I studied French up to A Level, the reality of speaking it everyday is different. Secondly, the Congolese don’t really like foreigners that speak English so I was initially not received well. Being a single woman with no family can get really difficult and extremely lonely. One of many experiences I have had deal with alone in a land where I don’t quite speak the language. God has really helped me through.
I hope to do more field reporting for major international events – Olympics, inaugurations, UN conferences, you can expect Nyasha K to give you the update. I would also like to become the go to person for high profile interviews, adding African presidents, business tycoons and global influencers such as Isabel Dos Santos. Strive Masiyiwa or Nassef Sawiris to my list of interviewees.
My real dream is to create a show, concept or platform that will unite Africans. Living here has shown me how divided we are and I hope to use media to fix that.”
