Tendai Ryan Nguni is an award winning musician, more famously known by his stage name Tehn Diamond. A recognized Zimbabwean hip hop rapper, singer and songwriter Tendai is gentle and quite shy in real life, and keeps his private life private.

An Old Georgian, Tendai participated in academics, sports, and was Head of Drama, Head of Music, Head of House and Captain of the 1st XV Rugby team.

While studying in Australia Tendai had a life changing moment watching his idol Jay-Z in Brisbane on 27 October 2006, decided to pursue a music career. In 2008 he released ”Student of the Game: Higher Learning” a mixtape better known as SOTG1. A year later Tendai auditioned via Skype for his first paying gig as a musician in Singapore, performing over 800 shows in 10 months.

Returning to Zimbabwe, Tendai released, Student Of The Game: Boys Will Be Boys or SOTG2, at his 10.10.10. event in partnership with Aadil Sirdar and Nothing Short of Amazing Entertainment. The music video for ”Grown Up Kid” (filmed in Bulawayo where his mother was born) won the Best Video National Arts Merit Award in 2012, a first for a Zimbabwean hip hop artist. In 2013 while touring in the UK, Tendai performed his hit songs ‘Happy’ and ‘Grown Up’ on the Big Brother Africa stage.

On the 1 January 2017 Tendai released ‘A Few Good Poems’, his debut solo album. Several songs from this album feature on the Cook Off musical soundtrack.

Having won over 6 Zim Hip Hop Awards, a Zimbabwe Music Award, a NAMA and having staged the country’s biggest tour – all 10 provinces – Tendai has decided to let his Tehn Diamond brand rest.

Tendai is based in Harare, the Zimbabwean capital, where he is founder of Nice Life Brands & Consultancy, a boutique strategic branding agency. He is a firm believer in God, and believes life’s purpose is to act out God’s intention for us. Through his brand Tisu Ngoda Dzacho (We Are The Diamonds) gently reminds us that purpose matters.
