a passion driven entrepreneur who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture-Plant Science at the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2015. In 2016, she then joined a Zimbabwean research organisation which promotes underutilised indigenous plants that have commercial value.
Her entrepreneurship journey began in 2018 when she began using her academic knowledge together with a 3 years’ experience of developing and testing products using traditional crops and plants as well as understanding customers’ needs and preferences. She has always had an aspiration to see Zimbabwean food be transformed into competitive products on the market.
Founded in October 2018, Eny’s Treats (named after Tracy’s late mother) sets itself to provide gluten and nut free healthy snacks to the upmarket urban health-conscious consumers including those with allergies. The snacks which are seed bars, balls, trail mix and seed butter are made from edible seeds; sesame, sunflower, pumpkin,chia and flaxseed.
Products are made as natural as possible by making use of natural unrefined sweeteners such as honey, fruits and berries. The enterprise reachs out to consumers through food fairs, social media and other outlets such as upmarket healthy shops. As the enterprise is currently small in nature, it only has a simple organizational structure were Tracy, founder/managing director makes the decisions in addition to monitoring the business activities.
Tracy participated in the Youth Connekt program 2019 and scooped the First Runner Up Prize for Mashonaland Central. Youth Connekt opened quite a number of opportunities, the knowledge acquired during the training made a difference in how business is now conducted. It helped mainly in refining the business model and record keeping. The package for being a first runner up included free membership at Impact Hub were numerous opportunities are on offer including working space, mentorship, access to attend events and networking with other entrepreneurs. This has also helped in accessing new markets.
