Our Zimbabwe is a beautiful land, made up of beautiful people, beautiful places and a rich heritage riddled with lessons 40 years ago, many sacrifices were made to fight and attain a position to stand on own feet and define and pave our futures as we choose. As Zimbabwe celebrates, we also remember those who gave their lives to a cause that laid the foundation of the freedom we embrace today. As both the old and new generations collide, we must also remember that this freedom came with a responsibility. A responsibility to take care off and embrace all the people, communities and nationalities that make up Zimbabwe. A responsibility to fairly create our own systems and laws that consider both the country’s citizens and external members that interact with it, and a responsibility to pave a future that the young can look forward to and the old smile upon.
Our people are resilient and strong. This is proven by the struggles and battles we’ve faced and continue to face within our borders and through these experiences we’ve been forged to stand where many would buckle. But remember, the responsibility is in our hands, and it is time we lived and not struggled, it is time we laid foundations for the Zimbabwe we all want to see.
