Meet our Host Sasha Paul who is a Staff Accountant at KPMG LLP, an international firm offering professional tax and advisory services. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Sasha moved to the Eastern Coast of Canada 5 years ago where she has been making strides to balance her professional career with her interest in African and social issues.
Having graduated with a BBA in Advanced Accounting with Distinction, Sasha recently launched her career in Auditing and is pursuing her Chartered Professional Accounting designation within the firm.
In addition to studying and working full-time, Sasha is an avid content creator and manages a blogging website and YouTube platform where she debates a plethora of issues ranging from mental health, to relationships and lifestyle. Her love for writing and activism is clearly demonstrated through the underlying passion depicted in her blogs tackling outdated behaviours and challenging her peers and future generations to think and act introspectively.
In the past, Sasha has encouraged cultural integration in the Canadian community by teaching African Zumba classes to men and women of all ages. Being a Student Equity Representative on the Students’ Union in her third year of university exposed her to the vast inequalities faced by different marginalized groups within the community, and Sasha is committed to using her platforms to educate and inspire meaningful change that will benefit Black, African, and Indigenous people in Canada.
Her desire to drive social change led her to work several part-time jobs during the course of her degree including being a Community Advisor, a Student Transition Coordinator, and an After-School Program Coordinator for an establishment which encourages young Black students to pursue careers in STEM by connecting them to other Black STEM professionals and demonstrating interactive Science experiments for the youth.
Sasha aspires to one day merge her love for hair, beauty, lifestyle, and activism into an entity which promotes Black wealth and longevity. The meaning of her name, “Defender of mankind” truly resonates through her content and her work.
