“If you don’t build your dream someone else will hire you to help build theirs”

This has resonated with me and has driven me to continuously strive for my goals despite challenges and obstacles that I may face. If you’re passionate about something start off small. You don’t need to have all the answers and have everything planned out because each little step that you take is a building block to attaining your goals in the future even though you may not see it now.

Meet our Spotlight Sherneal Joseph. A 22 year year old Zimbabwean fitness trainer and brand ambassador for @officialpushathletics.

“Upon completing my A levels in 2016 at Chisipite Senior School I moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 2017 as I enrolled at the Univerisity of Cape Town (UCT). I graduated this year (March 2020) which a Bachelor of  Social Science, specializing in Politics and Governance, Industrial Sociology and Spanish.

For me, health and fitness has always been an important part of my life. It was always something very personal and I never really thought of it on a larger scale, it was just something I simply did for myself and my physical and mental health. Building my career around health and fitness and being able to help people transform their lives based on something I am passionate is extremely refreshing for me.

I know the impact that a fitness based lifestyle has had on me and I would love to be able to extend that to other individuals. Personal training and developing a client base is largely dependent on interaction with people. Had I developed a steady client base base before the pandemic I would have probably had a different narrative, but trying to build one now is extremely difficult.

The decision to choose this career path fresh out of completing 3 years of studying something totally different, my parents paying university fees and just the whole concept of having a degree but deciding to do Personal Training and Nutrition was a little hard for my parents to digest in the beginning, which was a little discouraging at times. But anyone who knows me know that I am hard headed and if I want something  I will get it.
